VNA Hospice Annual Afternoon of Remembering
More than 200 family members attended the annual “Afternoon of Remembering” on a sunny Sunday in May. Held at Heritage Museums and Gardens in Sandwich, the annual gathering, part of the VNA Hospice Bereavement Support Program, is an opportunity for families to spend a few hours together remembering their loved ones who have died within the past year.
The day opened with a prelude provided by harpist Kate Lynch Koglin, a welcome and opening prayer with VNA Hospice Reverend Moriah Jordan. A performance of “The Full Angel” followed. In "The Full Angel," award-winning writer and performer Susan Poulin creates a series of concise, arresting vignettes that chronicle the death of her mother, her family's struggle and courage, and the healing power of love.
A video montage, “A Time to Remember” followed. The video featured photos of family members who had died with sentiments from family and friends of happier times spent with their loved one. Nearly 600 people were recognized in the video.
A reception on the patio followed with guests then taking the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding gardens and museums. For more information about the VNA Hospice bereavement programs, call 957-7710.
