Public Health and Wellness
In addition to the home care services usually associated with the VNA, the public health and wellness department provides many additional programs that typically take place outside the home. These include health education, community outreach, health screenings, counseling, early intervention and more.
Recognized by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health as the leader in immunizations for public health clinics for Cape Cod.
Public Health Nursing Contracts in 21 towns throughout Cape Cod and Islands and the South Shore.
Public Health Nursing Visits to the at-risk, vulnerable populations. This program provides these elders with the safety net to assure they can remain at home safely, and assists them with community referrals and liaison with the healthcare community.

Communicable Disease Surveillance is provided in real time through an electronic web portal with MADPH Epidemiology. The public health nurse works with the health agent and begins the investigation, depending on the severity or complexity of the case.
Maternal Child Health visits to new mothers and babies and those with social and psychological obstacles to assure the newborn is gaining weight, bonding with mom and family and there is a pediatrician follow-up.
